What is SIL?

In plain English — what NDIS SIL actually is.

Supported Independent Living (SIL) is NDIS funding for the day-to-day support you receive at home — shared or one-to-one — so you can live independently instead of in a hospital, family home or aged-care facility.

SIL pays for the support workers: help with personal care, medication, cooking, cleaning, getting to bed, waking overnight if needed. It does not pay for rent or groceries — those come from your regular income, the same as any Australian tenancy.

Support Network is not a SIL provider. We are an independent matching service that links you to registered SIL providers, helps you compare their homes and supports you through the choice process.

Why families choose our SIL link service

The small things that make a house feel like yours.

Your name on the lease

The providers we link you to put the tenancy in your name wherever possible — real tenancy rights, no provider lock-in.

You choose your housemates

We match by personality, routine and the everyday things that make a house feel right. Never bed-filling.

You choose the rhythm

When you eat. When friends visit. Whether workers wear uniforms. The small choices are the whole point.

The same faces, every week

Continuity isn't a feature — it's the point. Your team stays with you for as long as it works.

How we find your SIL provider

Supported Independent Living (SIL) Made Simple

Calm Steps. Not Four Months of Forms. We help you find the right SIL home faster, with expert guidance from enquiry through to move-in.

1. First conversation

A 30-minute call with our team. We listen to your goals, routine and funding status, then tell you honestly whether SIL is the right next chapter.

2. Plan & funding review

We review your NDIS plan (or help you request one), confirm whether SIL funding is included, and map the evidence you'll need.

3. Provider & home match

We introduce you to matching SIL providers with live vacancies, photos, housemate profiles and neighbourhood notes. You visit, meet everyone, then decide.

4. Move-in & ongoing support

You sign directly with your chosen provider. Same workers, week after week. We stay in touch to make sure the match is working.

Three homes · three lives

Real people, real front doors.

Sam in their SIL home in Brunswick, VIC NDIS · Shared SIL

Brunswick, VIC

Sam, 27

"I'd never had my own room before I moved in here."

Sam shares a three-bedroom Edwardian with two other guys his age. Cooks Sundays, walks to the bakery Saturdays, has a worker who fits the rhythm of the house — not the other way around.

Maya in their SIL home in Newcastle, NSW NDIS · 1:1 SIL

Newcastle, NSW

Maya, 34

"It's the first place that's ever felt like mine."

Fourteen months living independently. Support worker mornings and evenings; in between, she runs her ceramics studio out of the garage. The lease is in her name.

Thomas & friends in their SIL home in West End, QLD NDIS · Co-designed SIL

West End, QLD

Thomas & friends, 31

"We picked our housemates. That changed everything."

Three friends from the same day program asked to live together. We linked them to a provider who found the home, helped with funding and matched them with workers who already knew their personalities.

SIL — frequently asked

The questions families ask us most.

Supported Independent Living (SIL) is NDIS funding for the 24/7 or shared support you receive inside your home. It pays for the workers who help you with daily life — cooking, personal care, medication, getting to bed safely — so you can live in your own home with your own housemates, on your own terms.
SIL is generally for NDIS participants aged 18+ with higher daily support needs (typically 8+ hours per day). Eligibility is decided by the NDIA based on your assessed need and goals. We can review your plan, tell you honestly whether SIL is likely, and help you build the evidence if it isn't there yet.
Yes — we maintain relationships with registered SIL providers across Australia and can share live vacancies from their networks. Vacancies change weekly. Call 1300 671 931 or submit an enquiry and we'll share matching providers and homes within 24 hours.
We are an independent link to trusted SIL providers. We listen to your needs, review your plan, then introduce you to providers whose homes, housemates and support model fit your life. We don't own the homes, run the rosters or invoice the NDIS — the provider you choose does. We simply help you find the right one.
From first call to move-in is typically 4 to 8 weeks for existing NDIS participants with SIL funding, and 8 to 16 weeks if we're also helping you build the evidence for a plan review. We give you a written timeline within the first week.
SIL support hours are 100% funded through your NDIS plan when the funding is approved. Rent, groceries, utilities and everyday living costs are paid from your regular income (pension, wages, DSP) — the same as any other tenancy. Our matching service is free for participants and families.
Yes. The providers we link you to shortlist workers and housemates based on personality, language, gender preference and interests. You meet them before you decide, and you always choose the provider that feels right.
We work with SIL providers across NSW (Sydney, Newcastle, Wollongong, Central Coast), VIC (Melbourne, Geelong, Ballarat), QLD (Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Toowoomba), SA (Adelaide) and WA (Perth). New provider partnerships open regularly.

Whenever you're ready

The right provider starts with one quiet conversation.

We'll listen first, walk through the funding, then introduce you to providers who fit your life — at your pace, never theirs.

No lock-in. No pressure. A real Australian on the other end of the line.
