Plan management for Perth and Western Australia

Western Australia joined the national NDIS later than the eastern states. The scheme's national regulator took over in late 2020. So, the market here takes a different approach. Perth's isolation and remoteness is largely because of geographical footprints. The support and logistics usually delivered in the city are grossly affected by the distance.

For many NDIS participants in Perth, the major concern over the years has always been the long distance travel from place to place.  Perth spreads from Joondalup in the north to Rockingham and Mandurah in the south. Support workers get harder to find the further you go from the centre.

Plan management helps in two ways. It opens up your provider options to include unregistered workers. And it removes the admin work, so you can focus on finding the right people, not paying them.

Whether you're in Joondalup, Midland, Armadale, Rockingham, or Mandurah, we manage your plan remotely. Distance doesn't slow down how fast your providers get paid.

Does Plan Management Cost Anything?

  • $104.45 This is the monthly plan management fee NDIA sets for  2025–26. This flat rate exists whether you're in Perth or anywhere else.
  • $0 Out of your support budget. Plan management is funded separately by the NDIS.
  • $751,446 This captures the support budgets for NDIS participants with their unique support needs nationally as at September 2025.

The question everyone often asks first is if plan management costs Perth participants a cent. The NDIA pays for plan management through its own "Improved Life Choices" funding line which is completely separate from the money set aside for your support workers, therapists, and other support services. It's never pulled from your core or capacity-building budgets.

For 2025–26, the fee is fixed at $104.45 a month, capped by the NDIA. That means no provider  in Perth or elsewhere can charge above it. If you don’t have plan management yet, just raise it at your next planning meeting or reassessment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Being in WA, will I get the same service as eastern-states participants?

Yes, you'll get the same service. Plan management runs online, so it doesn’t matter if you’re in Perth or regional Western Australia. The NDIS is a national scheme that operates based on the same NDIS rules. The same fee and funding applies no matter your location.

Perth's metro area is huge. Does my suburb affect the service?

Not even slightly, it grossly affects your service. Although, plan management works exactly the same way whether you're up in Joondalup, out in Mandurah, over in Armadale, or anywhere in between.

Your suburb will only impact how you will find actual support workers and therapists on the ground. Some geographical areas have more providers to choose from than others. Most times, the time frame for transportation affects availability in outer suburbs or semi-regional pockets like Mandurah and Two Rocks.

How do I add plan management to my plan?

It's simpler than most people think. There’s no special form or complicated process.

Requesting for it at your next plan meeting or plan reassessment is an approved part of your NDIS journey. When your planner asks how you'd like your funding managed, you simply state your desired option. It's a routine request, and it's approved as a matter of course. If your plan review isn't coming up for a while and you don’t want to wait, you can also contact the NDIA directly. You can ask about adding it sooner, sometimes through a plan variation. This depends a bit on your circumstances, but it's worth asking if the timing matters to you.

If any of the process still feels confusing, just give us a call on 1300 671 931. We'll talk you through the grey areas.

Can I switch to the Support Network from another plan manager?

Yes, you can switch to the Support Network from another plan manager at any time. If you're not satisfied with your current plan manager, or things just aren't working the way you would like, you don't have to delay your transition. Switching is genuinely straightforward, and it's not something you have to manage yourself. We handle the changeover directly by transferring your service agreement appropriately.

The goal is a clean handover with no gap in your funded support. Meaning your providers are getting paid on time, your budget tracking doesn't skip a beat, and you're not left in limbo during the switch.

If you're thinking about switching, the easiest first step is just to give us a call. We'll explain exactly what the switch involves, roughly how long it takes, and answer anything you're unsure about before you commit to it.
