Support Coordination for Canberra and the ACT

The ACT was one of the first to implement the NDIS, and reached full territorial coverage quickly because of the size of the Territory. That gave Canberra a stable NDIS market, but a settled market isn’t without its challenges, and when demand for a good provider is high, navigating it is still a challenge.

Belconnen, Gungahlin, Woden, Tuggeranong and the inner suburbs form a relatively small, urbanised area, which makes coordination easier than in the large cities. But a small area can also mean certain specialists or services are limited in supply, and knowing where and how to find them matters. A local coordinator completes the link.

Our coordinators assist Canberra participants across Belconnen, Gungahlin, Woden Valley, Tuggeranong and the inner north and south (into Queanbeyan and the NSW fringe) to find the right providers and make plans work.

Areas we serve include Belconnen, Gungahlin, Woden, Tuggeranong, Queanbeyan, Weston Creek, Dickson, Kingston, Braddon and the City.

Support Coordination in Canberra: Your Questions

Does being in a small city like Canberra affect access to NDIS providers?

It can. Some specialist services are less readily available in a smaller market, and that’s where a coordinator helps, knowing who’s available locally and, if needed, arranging support that spans the ACT-NSW border.

If I’m just over the border in Queanbeyan, can you help?

Yes. As we operate nationally, the ACT-NSW border is irrelevant. We organise your support the same way, wherever you are, central Canberra or Queanbeyan.

Does support coordination cost anything?

No. If you have support coordination in your plan under the Capacity Building funding category, you don’t pay for it out of pocket, and if you’re not self-managed you won’t get an invoice. It doesn’t come from your core support.

How many levels of support coordination are there?

Level 1 is Support Connection ($80.06/hr in 2025-26), a gentler approach to accessing services. The most common level is Level 2, Coordination of Supports ($100.14/hr). Level 3, Specialist Support Coordination ($190.54/hr), is for complex needs or higher risk and is delivered by more qualified practitioners.

Can I choose my own support coordinator?

Yes. If support coordination is included in your plan, you can choose who provides it, and you can change providers if it doesn’t work for you.
