Support Coordination for the Sunshine Coast

The Sunshine Coast has one of Queensland’s highest growth rates, and an older population than the state as a whole. That shapes its NDIS environment: with a large share of participants coming to the scheme later in life, sometimes alongside aged care, clear and patient coordination is particularly important here.

The area runs from Caloundra in the south, through the Maroochydore hub to Noosa, and it’s growing in the hinterland. Provider coverage is strongest along the coastal strip and thins out towards Nambour and the ranges. A support coordinator who knows this local map can connect you with services actually within your area, and help you understand the transition between the NDIS and aged care.

Our coordinators help Sunshine Coast participants connect with the right providers and get their plans working, whether they’re in the coastal towns between Caloundra and Noosa, the growth areas around Maroochydore and Kawana, or the hinterland.

Areas we serve include Maroochydore, Caloundra, Noosa, Nambour, Kawana, Buderim, Mooloolaba, Coolum, Sippy Downs and Beerwah.

Support Coordination on the Sunshine Coast: Your Questions

Many Sunshine Coast participants are older. Can you help with the NDIS and aged care together?

Yes. We regularly support participants who come to the NDIS later in life. A coordinator can help you understand your plan, connect with the right services, and see how the NDIS and aged care work together.

Do you coordinate supports in the Sunshine Coast hinterland?

Yes, the coastal strip from Caloundra to Noosa and the hinterland around Nambour. A key part of what we do is knowing the hinterland service providers, since coverage is thinner in those areas.

Should I have to pay for support coordination?

No. If you have funding allocated for support coordination in your plan under Capacity Building, it’s used for exactly that. You won’t pay out of pocket, and you won’t receive an invoice unless you’re self-managed. It doesn’t come from your core supports.

How many levels of support coordination are there?

Level 1, Support Connection ($80.06/hr for 2025-26), is the lighter touch for connecting with services. The most common level is Level 2, Coordination of Supports ($100.14/hr). Level 3, Specialist Support Coordination ($190.54/hr), is for complex needs or significant risk, delivered by more highly qualified practitioners.

Can I choose my own support coordinator?

Yes. Once support coordination is included in your plan, you choose who provides it, one isn’t allocated to you, and if it’s not the provider you want, you can change them.
